Hey, I'm Alison. I have over 15 years of experience writing copy for agencies, publishers and in-house marketing teams. I’ve written profiles and editorials on athletes and brand ambassadors, product descriptions, social media captions, podcast ads and landing page and website copy. I’ve also written and concepted marketing and brand campaigns, content calendars and UX copy. 

When not writing, I’m likely hiking, biking or SUPping—though I tend to venture outside of my comfort zone. Over the last year, I’ve tried downhill mountain biking, fly fishing and roller skating. A bonus activity not on my list was art directing a BMX photoshoot mere steps from the racetrack at the USA BMX Lonsestar Nationals.

1. In Motion with Collin Findlay

A profile I wrote for Spot Insurance to boost brand outreach, authenticity and engagement. 

I profiled creative director and photographer Collin Findlay. He’s a local in the Austin running and cycling scene, one of Spot’s go-to photographers and leads creative and marketing for Hotel Van Zandt. His presence in the active, outdoor and hospitality world served as a great opportunity for me to showcase Collin’s work while creating brand awareness around Spot in those spaces.

2. Website Copy

I wrote copy for Spot’s new website showcasing the brand’s new suite of insurance products. This included creating brand names, writing descriptions and educating the sales team on branding and how to pitch our product.

3. Downhill Mountain Biking 101 with Spot’s Partner Resort 
A feature I wrote to highlight a Spot client’s offerings and strengthen the brand’s relationship with the client.

Spot was looking for a way to show up authentically in the outdoor space while giving one of their injury insurance partners a shout—so I traveled to Berkshire East and hopped on a mountain bike for the first time to write a feature on their downhill mountain bike park through the lens of a beginner.

4. Tagline and voice of Spot

As the voice of Spot, I created the company tagline “Designed for Life in Motion”.  The tagline appeared across multiple touchpoints including the website, company van wrap and marketing collateral.






5. Glade Optics x Spot Giveaway Campaign

Concepted and wrote copy for a giveaway campaign in collaboration with ski goggle brand Glade Optics to drive brand awareness and engagement.

I featured the giveaway in a newsletter that went out to 100k+ customers and potential clients in the ski and snowboard space.

6. From Stoke to Shock in Less than a Second

A feature I wrote for Spot Insurance showcasing a happy customer’s experience with the brand.

I turned positive feedback from Spot customer Elle Truax into a feature on how the brand helped her make the best of a sh*t situation after she tore her ACL on New Year’s Eve. ⁠

7. Ad copy driving Spot Insurance sales

I wrote ad copy promoting Spot’s suite of insurance products for the active, outdoor and travel spaces. Ads appeared in print magazines, on websites and social channels to drive sales for Spot’s clients including USA BMX, Jackson Hole and Ikon Pass.




8. Capturing the Frenetic Energy of a BMX Race

I art directed a photoshoot and wrote about Spot’s BMX client to build brand awareness in the community and strengthen our relationship with the client.

I traveled to the USA BMX Lonestar Nationals to art direct a photoshoot with photographer with Collin Findlay—the images were used in USA BMX marketing collateral. I also wrote an essay on BMX racing.

9. On, Off, Over and Under the Water with Tanner Stofferahn

An interview I did for Spot Insurance to highlight river sustainability and to connect with potential clients in the outdoor space.

I partnered with Tanner Stofferahn of the Wild Rivers Conservancy to showcase the organization’s efforts to preserve and restore the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway.
